Only the MG T-Type Midget was able to come within the reach of people of all incomes. Prior to WWII, sports cars were generally considered a luxury only the wealthy could afford. The MG-T changed all that with its modest price, economical operating costs and excellent handling. Not a powerhouse, it provided enjoyable driving and was suitable for other activities of everyday life that require a car. Even so, many races were won by private owners in their MG-T autos. In fact, one finished among the winners in the famous Le Maw race of 1960. The basic design was enthusiastically received throughout the world, especially in the U.S., and enjoyed a long 20-year fife with only minor modifications from time to time.
