BEFORE making notes on the building of this model a few words about the prototype may be of interest. The Royal Daffodil Il was built by Cammell Laird in 1934 to replace the original vessel of the same name, i.e. Daffodil (1906) renamed Royal Daffodil in 1918 after her work at Zeebrugge on St. George's Day, 1918. . \
This original vessel was sold to the New Medway Steam Navigation Co. in 1933, who later had a new motor vessel built with the same name.
