This model plan depicts a small tanker of a type ordered by the Ministry of War Transport and placed under the management of the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co. Ltd., for service abroad and built by Messrs. A. & J. Inglis of Pointhouse in Glasgow.
I have always had a sneaking admiration for ships of a standard design built in WW2. not especially for their looks, although some could stand comparison with many, but in appreciation of the constraints applying at that time in respect of manpower and materials etc., and the general upheaval occasioned by a wartime environment during a time of absolute necessity to replenish and repair the vast number of merchant ships lost and damaged which were critical to sustain some semblance of life as we then knew it in the UK.
