   THIS hydroplane has been designed for commercial 5 cc. engines and is a suitable boat for beginners. The original was capable of speeds of over 35 m.p.h. powered by a Frog 500, an engine which gave no trouble even when it became full of water and was dried out. After 18 months running it is still using the same glowplug!

Building

   The bulkheads are sawn out first and assembled to the stringers, which may need steaming to shape. Take care to align the framework accurately. Fit and shape the obeche nose block, then add the bottom and side ply skins.
