The model presented here has been designed to a scale or 1/ 3" to the foot. It can handle a wide variety of engine sizes and combinations. A single .09 Marine type engine is ample power, An optional, suggestion is shown on the plan whereby two electric motors are also Installed, supplying power to return to shore if the, 09 engine stops we want to emphasize that they are not necessary to power the model unless desired, Glow plug engines up to .29 may be Installed if desired, The radio gear is also optional. The model may be tethered or run free if you wish. Those choosing to install radio gear will find a great deal of detail on the plan covering this.
The Air Sea Rescue Boats'" are the fastest type boats in use by the united States Armed Forces. so, designed to aid in the rescue of downed fliers, even under fire if it becomes necessary. The full-size craft was built by Detroit Basin Inc and powered by three 12-cylinder V-type gasoline engines of 1500 horsepower each. The craft has a crew of 14 men and two officers. In addition, twelve litters can be accommodated in the sick bay which adjoins the drop-down rescue well at the transom. This is used to haul aboard life rafts etc. in minimum time and is very useful of course when filets are injured.
