The design is built around a K & B 21 and as can be seen in the photos, I chose to lay it on it's side — which brings the carb. upright and enables the tuned pipe to lay inside the hull. All drawings show an upright 3.5 engine installation and the plan itself is not intended to be the last word in hydroplane design, but is merely the starting point for anyone wishing to try something out of the ordinary, and allow enough scope for any of your own ideas such as a wider body, etc. to be tried as required. My own hull fast evolved over a period of months — I even had 3 different hulls and 3 different types of sponsons. However, I did commit everything I tried to paper Below: Square One decked out in a jazzy paint scheme all ready to run.
