The Blue Bonnet is one of the links in the chain of a successful Open Class ‑A" win at the 1964 Nationals and a new record of 151 mph. I was very proud to break the magic 150 mph barrier in this class. Not too many years ago, the 150 mark was considered an accomplishment even with a .60 job, now I*m sure it will be required in years to conic just to place in this class. It is also a consistent winner as our second place winning speed at the 1965 Nationals was 151.20 mph.
Constructed and flown correctly, Blue Bonnet will give an engine every opportunity to obtain its maximum output. At the speeds obtainable by this model, believe me, you have no time to actually fly the ship‑any control correction is simply too much. I have test‑flown it at over 155 mph and I have all I can do just keeping up, much less thinking about a control correction. You are revolving about the pylon at less than 11/2 seconds per lap at them speeds.
