The project described here is a straightforward-to-build Victorian Paddle Steamer of semi-scale appearance. Two low speed motors drive the paddle wheels independently of each other in tank control fashion, thus eliminating the need for a rudder for steering. The construction of the paddles is simplified by using plastic card as this is stronger than balsa wood and doesn't require painting. All the radio gear and batteries are housed in the engine room with access through the lifting deck. Materials required are balsa and card as specified on the plan, together with some plastic card, wheel collets for fastening the paddles to the motor shafts, dowel for the flag staff and bollards, and suitable fitting
