Crackerbox" is an easy to build of an almost flat bottomed Californian raceboat. It is designed for 6/7 cells and almost any can be used. The model in this article used a 22 turn modified 540, mainly because I had one lying around spare. If you were to fit a 21 turn stock motor and 6 cells, "Crackerbox" would make an ideal Formula 3 boat. The drive system I used is a lightweight submerged drive from John B Marine. These all stainless steel units are used in virtually every Formula 3 and Formula 2 boat and are exactly the correct length for the "Crackerbox". The transom mounted rudder assembly is also available from John B Marine as is the stainless steel P31 propeller.
