Model Design:
The model is based on the Lehigh Valley Railroad tugs built in the 1940's. A geared "05" type motor with a 6-volt battery provided more than enough power for general sailing, but is just right for the pulling and pushing required in towing events.
Full-size tugs are quite shapely vessels, but for speed and ease of construction, I simplified the model. This loss of scale fidelity does not significantly detract from the model's appearance when it is sailing.
